Lingual tissues enlargement osaEnlargement of the lingual tonsils or the lymphoid tissue on the base of the tongue is a cause of obstructive sleep apnoea in a significant number of cases. There has been some controversy of how to best assess this, either by way of an awake endoscopy or by CT scanning.

Recent comparison between the two have shown that expert awake endoscopy to assess lingual size encroachment of the airway is as accurate as any form of imaging.

If you have obstructive sleep apnoea, or significant nocturnal snoring, it can be improved if Lingual tissues enlargement is the cause and this is appropriately treated.
