Microlaryngoscopy

Microlaryngoscopy is a diagnostic or therapeutic procedure performed to treat pathological conditions in the voice box or the larynx.

It is performed under general anaesthetic.

A variety of laryngoscopes or instruments for examining the larynx are introduced through the mouth. Often, the procedure involves the use of lasers; either carbon dioxide or Diode lasers.

A/Professor Havas has introduced several breakthroughs in the area of Microlaryngeal surgery including designing a set of improved instruments to facilitate visualising the larynx and the use a new type of laser called a Diode laser.

The procedure is usually performed as a day only procedure and is followed by several days of reduced voice use.
